The legend of King Arthur is framed by acts of magic and destiny, beginning with his unlikely rise to power. After the death of King Uther Pendragon, the wizard Merlin devised a test to reveal the true heir: a sword magically fixed in a stone. An inscription declared that whoever could free the blade would be the rightful king of all Britain. While powerful knights and nobles failed, the young squire Arthur, unaware of his royal lineage, effortlessly pulled the sword, proving his birthright and uniting the kingdom.

During his celebrated reign, the court of Camelot became preoccupied with the ultimate spiritual adventure: the quest for the Holy Grail. This sacred relic is most commonly described as the cup or dish that Jesus used at the Last Supper, later said to have caught his blood at the crucifixion. Believed to possess miraculous powers of healing and providing eternal youth, the search for the Grail became the highest calling for the Knights of the Round Table, a test of their piety and moral purity.

Arthur's reign, however, ended in betrayal and battle. After being mortally wounded by his treacherous son Mordred at the Battle of Camlann, the dying king was placed on a barge and ferried away to the mystical, otherworldly island of Avalon. In this legendary paradise, his wounds were to be healed. The legend holds that Arthur does not truly die but instead slumbers in Avalon, waiting to return in Britain's greatest hour of need.
