The King's career began at a small but legendary Memphis studio. In 1954, a young Elvis Presley walked into Sun Records, run by visionary producer Sam Phillips. It was here that Elvis, along with guitarist Scotty Moore and bassist Bill Black, fused country and blues to create the revolutionary sound of rockabilly. His early recordings for the label, including his debut single "That's All Right" and the classic "Mystery Train," were raw and energetic, laying the foundation for rock and roll. These initial sessions are considered some of the most important in music history.

By late 1955, Elvis had become too big for an independent label. In a landmark deal, Sam Phillips sold his contract to the major label RCA Victor for what was then an enormous sum of $35,000. This move catapulted Elvis from a regional sensation to an international superstar. His first single for his new label, "Heartbreak Hotel," became a massive nationwide hit, and it was followed by a string of iconic songs like "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock." Elvis would remain with this label for the rest of his career, cementing his status as a global icon.
