The beloved frog who served as the host and showrunner of the variety program "The Muppet Show" was none other than Kermit the Frog. Often described as the soft-spoken alter-ego of his creator, Kermit was one of the very first Muppets and acted as the pragmatic center amidst the chaos of the other characters. While many associate him with "The Muppet Show," he also had a significant role on the children's program "Sesame Street," often as a news reporter.
The creative mind behind Kermit and the entire Muppet universe was the late Jim Henson. Henson was a pioneering puppeteer, animator, and filmmaker who developed this unique form of entertainment. While he did not create the television show "Sesame Street" himself, he was commissioned to design and build the cast of characters that would inhabit the now-famous street, bringing his creations to the educational program.
One of those iconic "Sesame Street" residents is the perpetually cantankerous Oscar the Grouch. True to his name, he famously lives inside a trash can, a place he chooses because of his love for all things trash. Though it appears to be a standard metal bin on the outside, the inside of his home has been shown to be surprisingly spacious, containing everything from a swimming pool to a bowling alley. Oscar and his unique home were created for the very first episode of the show in 1969.
